Kurtis Blow Raps For Jesus On New Hip Hop Church Show

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Kurtis Blow is giving gospel the hip-hop treatment on a new television show he hopes will bring young people to the Lord through the power of rap.

Back in the ’70s and ’80s, Blow was a rap pioneer thanks to hits like “The Breaks” and “Basketball.”

But he took a break and now says he’s returning to rap only to bring the word of the Lord back to hip-hop, which he claims, “has always been spiritual.”

In Blow’s words, “You have to remember that hip-hop was an alternative to gang violence in the beginning – an alternative to drug-selling and fornication and fighting.”

Blow says the proposed show will be called Hip Hop Church America and producers are currently in talks to air the program on BET.

The veteran rapper adds: “We think the church can save hip-hop and hip-hop can save the church.”
