Nude Sand Castle Builders Get Down And Dirty

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Nude Recreation Week begins today (July 10) and some nudists in San Diego plan to celebrate by getting down and dirty – building sand castles.

Dave Cole heads an informal nudie group who regularly build castles at Black’s Beach, the county’s unofficial clothing-optional beach.

He says building sand castles is such a popular activity at Black’s that group members store pails, shovels and sand molds at the beach nearly year-round.

But while Cole takes building sand castles seriously, the finished product is sometimes as raw as the folks building them.

As he puts it, “We won’t win any contests. It’s more about fun.”

Some of the sculptures built by Cole’s crew include a sandy airport, complete with control tower and landing strip, a replica of the San Diego Chargers’ football field and the ever-popular mermaid.

For those worried building a sand castle in the buff might get sand in their crotch, Cole reassures us that’s never been a problem, claiming: “I’ve never built a castle while wearing a swimsuit.”
