Patrick Duffy Gets ‘A Hero’s Welcome’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Patrick Duffy is getting A Hero’s Welcome on July 4 and he says, with any luck, he’ll be getting many more.

A Hero’s Welcome is the title of a CBS special that features Duffy helping folks thank the heroes who saved their lives.

In one case, Duffy helps a 15-year-old girl in Washington State thank the Navy Lieutenant who rescued her when her truck went over a cliff, as well as some former high school students in Moses Lake, Washington, who want thank their former teacher for stopping a school shooting.

The show focuses more on the grateful people than the heroes they’re thanking because, as Duffy puts it, “Many heroes are reluctant to acknowledge their efforts, and [often] say something like, ‘I don’t know what I did. I just thought what I did was right.”’

Because of that, Duffy and the producers took pains to discuss potential party plans in advance with each hero’s family.

In the case of the teacher who stopped the shooting, Duffy and producers limited the guest list of the thank-you party to the kids who were in the classroom.

Duffy was so happy with the reaction of the heroes that he would like the show to be picked up as a series.
