International Fight League Coach Calls Out Sen. John McCain

BETTENDORF, Iowa (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Senator John McCain once called mixed martial arts “human cockfighting” – but one of the coaches of the International Fight League begs to differ.

His name is Pat Miletich and he coaches the IFL’s championship team, the Silverbacks, and he’s suspicious of Senator McCain’s criticism of mixed martial arts fighting formats.

According to Miletich, the senator was a boxer in the Navy and has ties to professional boxing, including “being close with Don King.”

Miletich adds, “I’m not sure if contributions to his campaigns have anything to do with, but I wouldn’t be surprised.”

Miletich refutes the traditional opinion that boxing is a “gentleman’s sport.”

In his words, “The truth is, it’s not a gentleman’s sport. We’re talking about a sport where they average ten deaths a year – whereas ours has had one death in 95 years.”

The International Fight League recently inked a deal to air fights on cable television’s Fox Sports Network.
