Cult King Of Comedy Dolemite Hospitalized

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – As a hero to generations of urban comics, actors, rappers and gangsters, Rudy Ray Moore – aka Dolemite – always killed, but he’s fighting for his life now.

The 80-year-old Moore has been admitted to the intensive care unit at an Inglewood, California, hospital, for what authorities have only disclosed as a “serious illness.”

Moore’s representatives have released a statement with comments from the irreverent comedic actor-producer-singer himself, from his own hospital bed, that addressed his legendary status in the world of entertainment – but no details of his life-threatening condition.

According to Moore: “Others have used the title ‘Kings of Comedy,’ but I am the true king!”

A longtime friend and producer of a planned tribute to Moore, Foster Corder, says that the influential comedian is looking forward to the project, a follow-up to Corder’s 1995 DVD, The Legend of Dolemite, which starred Paul Mooney, Ice T, Eddie Griffin and The Beastie Boys’ Mike D.
