True to its name, Free Comic Book Day is an annual event where more than 1800 comic stores hand out free Superman, X-Men and Donald Duck books to customers.
This year marks the fifth year of Free Comic Book Day and spokeswoman Elissa Lynch says the event is drawing more interest than ever.
As she puts it, Theres new interest in comic books, thanks to films like V For Vendetta, X3 and Superman Returns, which all first appeared in the so-called graphic novels.
More than 2 million comic books will be given away on Saturday, including popular titles like X-Men, The Simpsons and Star Wars.
Lynch says comic book store owners believe the event will show average folks how the art form has evolved into serious topics and that the stores have gone from dungeons like one on The Simpsons to elaborate entertainment centers.
To that end, Lynch says many comic book owners will attract customers by hiring Star Wars storm troopers to stand on the roof.
