Runaways Tribute Called The Stay-At-Homes Are ‘Desperate Housewives of Rock’

HOBOKEN, N.J. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Not all garage bands are made up of scruffy teenage punks. Some could just be the neighborhood’s Desperate Housewives rocking out their teen fantasies.

Case in point: The “Stay-At-Homes,” which is a Hoboken, New Jersey-based tribute group inspired to the pioneering all-girl punk band The Runaways.

The band is made up of five ladies between 35 and 45, who portray various Runaways members, including Cheri Currie, Lita Ford and Joan Jett.

Currie copycat Tammy Faye Starlite says all the gals share a fascination with the ’70s pre-fab chick-rockers but have no intention of leaving home.

As she puts it, “We’re just too old or tired I guess to run away. The Stay-At-Homes made more sense.”

Plus, she adds: “This way we can rock out our fantasies without pretending to be actual homeless teens.”
