Rocker Shocker: Jon Bon Jovi’s Cousin Claims He Gave Jon His Start

DETROIT (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Rocker Jon Bon Jovi turns 44 today (Mar. 2), but Bon Jovi’s cousin has a birthday wish of his own: Give me some credit.

Tony Bongiovi is stepping forward to set the record straight about the myth that Jon has propagated that he got his start in the music business sweeping floors in his uncle’s studio.

For starters, Tony says it was his studio, not Jon’s uncle’s, and he couldn’t have swept floors because they were carpeted.

More importantly, Tony claims Jon wanted to be a rock star so he hired his cousin as an employee of the studio so he could watch and learn from the legends like the Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen who recorded at Power Station.

Tony estimates he spent upwards of $300,000 to get Jon started but figures the reason Jon perpetuated the “working stiff” story was that he didn’t want the world to know he had everything handed to him.

Even after all these years, Tony says Jon’s story still bothers him. He admits, “I wanted to be acknowledged for what I did.”
