New York Gallery Takes Magazine Approach To Art

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A Brooklyn-based art gallery that takes its cues from the magazine world is wrapping up its latest “issue.”

Anna Cosentino is co-curator of Spring, a magazine-like art gallery that puts out “issues” and “articles” spanning topics like art, fashion, design and music.

Spring’s current issue is called (Present) and features a gallery space full of gifts for sale for the man – or woman – who has everything.

Cosentino says gifts like handmade “glass knuckles,” a life-sized piglet sculpture, 30mm ceramic gun vases and tiny one-inch-tall chairs carved out of erasers will be available until Jan. 8, and even though the holidays have come and gone, she insists, “We’re not going to have a store-wide sale.”

She says most artists will want to take the items back instead of selling them at bargain basement prices.

Cosentino also warns that some of the gifts are more aesthetic than functional, like the mini eraser chairs.

She admits you could use them, but at $150 for a set of ten, she remarks, “You wouldn’t want to.”
