Bill Nye The Science Guy On Fire In ‘Numb3rs’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If you thought Backdraft was just a ‘90s flick starring one of the Baldwin boys, think again.

Bill Nye – known for his series Bill Nye The Science Guy – will soon guest star on the CBS series Numb3rs as a professor of Engineering who recreates a backdraft to help the FBI solve an arson crime.

Ever the educator, Nye’s character will give viewers a little science lesson along the way by explaining the principles of a backdraft. He jokes, “It’s cool. I mean, it’s hot.”

Though backdrafts are obviously explosive, Nye insists he wasn’t even close to getting burned, adding, “That’s like asking the demolition guy, ‘Did you get blown up?’ We were careful!”

Though he sounds extremely knowledgeable on the subject, Nye admits he had to study up on backdrafts before taking on the role. As he puts it, “The word ‘cram’ is one way to describe it. Another way is: I looked it up.”

Nye’s fiery episode airs December 16.
