Dangers Of Oral Sex Increases For Brace Faces

BOSTON (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Brace yourself: A Boston dentist is filling in the cavities on the health risks of giving oral sex when you have braces.

Cosmetic dentist Helaine Smith is warning wearers of braces, particularly sexually active teens, that their tin grins can put them at risk for STDs.

That’s because she says the sharp metal edges of braces can tear or poke holes through a condom or dental dam during oral sex, leaving them susceptible to contracting HIV/AIDS, genital warts and herpes.

Dr. Smith warns metal mouths to keep their brackets away from condoms as much as possible, but if you must do the deed, to put pieces of wax over sharp edges.

And if you see a tear on a condom during oral sex, replace it with a new one.
