Marriage Proposals Getting Trickier Thanks To Celebs

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Ever since Seal built an igloo on a remote Canadian mountain to propose to Heidi Klum, and Tom Cruise gave Katie Holmes a huge rock atop the Eiffel Tower, it seems that celebs are raising the bar for proposals.

Marilyn Oliveira, senior editor at the website, admits, “I think there’s some truth to that,” citing Al Reynolds’ proposal to Star Jones on national TV; and Paris Hilton’s super-sized ring as other examples to live up to.

Not only that, she feels there’s more pressure for average guys because, “They know that the proposal is going to be talked about 40 years from now.”

Oliveira says men are now turning to high-end hotels for help in creating a memorable proposal. For example, a resort in Kauai placed an engagement ring at the bottom of a swimming pool and allowed the future groom to dive off a bridge and retrieve the ring for his bride-to-be.

While impressive, Oliveira says it’s more important to “know your bride” and to do “something that’s meaningful and special for you both.”
