Alan Cumming Coming To Terms With Cult Movies

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Making movies can have its difficult moments, but watching them can prove challenging too.

Actor Alan Cumming – best known as “Nightcrawler” from the movie X2 – is host of Sundance Channel’s Midnight Snack where he sits through bizarre cult films like Orgazmo, a musical about a Mormon who becomes a porn superhero to finance his wedding; and the 1977 bomb, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, a movie he says is so strange it allows a person “to imagine they’re on hallucinogenics without actually doing any drugs.”

Cumming admits the hosting job is like “calling attention to a train wreck,” but then there’s the joy of introducing audiences to something new, such as It’s All About Love, a 2003 thriller starring Sean Penn, Claire Danes and Joaquin Phoenix.

Although it’s billed as a “futuristic fantasy about ecological disasters, clones and celebrity figure skaters,” Cumming was happy to discover it’s really good.

Midnight Snack debuts for its second season on Dec. 2 with the Emilio Estevez punk comedy, Repo Man.
