At least, thats what Jay King is hoping.
Back in the late 1980s, he was a member of Club Nouveau who sang the 1987 hit Lean on Me.
Now hes the creator of the Professional Domino Association and when the new domino league starts in February, he hopes to get some big names to dot the circuit.
Hes already rounded up several, including actors Anthony Anderson, Mekhi Phifer and former baseball star Eric Davis to throw down some tiles in the PDAs pre- season seeding tournament Oct. 22 in Los Angeles.
King figures celebrity dominoes will make for better TV than poker because, as he puts it, Luck can only take you so far in dominoes. You can be really successful in poker without being that good.
Besides bringing dominoes more mainstream, King wants to strike down the notion that African-Americans are the only ones who play the game.
