The Compton-born rapper/producer explains he was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder last year due to things that really sucked that no one should go through.
Some of those things include people leeching off of him; the murders of close friends; and, says Quik, stressin and drinkin... drinking myself to death. This has nothing to do with f■■■ing fame or f■■■ing Rolls Royces. This was my life.
After cutting negative people out of his life, Quik left L.A. for New York, which he says revitalized his creativity and helped him record his latest album, Trauma.
Though it sounds like a dark title, Quik insists the album is full of upbeat tracks like Get Down with Chingy.
Trauma debuted at No. 1 on the independent charts, and while Quik admits hes happy about it, hes also not too surprised.
In his words, I know Im one of the great minds of hip-hop.
