What Are The Top TV Themes Of All-Time?

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A new CD featuring the 100 best TV themes of all time hits stores tomorrow (Sep. 6) and may provoke as many debates as sales.

It’s called Tee Vee Toons: All-Time Top 100 TV Themes and features – as the title suggests – 100 well-known theme songs including The Flintstones, Miami Vice and Friends.

CD producer Patricia Joseph says the tunes were picked in reverse chronological order, which is why Six Feet Under starts the collection and The Lone Ranger ends it.

In between, there are themes for All In The Family, Sex And The City and Frasier and songs that were bigger hits than the shows they came from such as “Theme To The Greatest American Hero (Believe It Or Not).”

Naturally, song selection was a difficult job and Joseph regrets not being able to include the themes to Family Affair, Jeopardy or That Girl.

But while the song selection will no doubt provoke debate among couch potatoes, Joseph says there’s no argument about which composer has the most hit TV themes.

That honor goes to Mike Post, whose themes for Rockford Files, L.A. Law, X Files and Law And Order are all included.
