Evangeline Lilly: On A Mission To Be An Actress

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Lost cast member Evangeline Lilly took a circuitous road towards show business but it’s always been her mission.

Except for the brief time she was a missionary.

Lilly says there’s never been a time when she didn’t think about acting, and she used to spend hours in her bedroom acting in front of a mirror.

She confesses that when she realized how strange that might look, she started locking the door to prevent her parents from walking in on her impromptu performances.

But while Lilly has always had dreams of acting, unlike other actresses, she didn’t jump to Hollywood after graduating high school. Instead, she contemplated being a missionary and spent three weeks in the Philippines living in “grass huts with tribal people.”

It wasn’t drama school but Lilly figures the experience shed some light about being stuck on a tropical island with a group of strangers; something she does every week on Lost.

ABC has scheduled the season premiere of Lost for Sept. 21 but the first season hits DVD on Tuesday (Sept. 6).
