Boop first appeared on August 8, 1930, in the cartoon Dizzy Dishes, but as a canine. It wasnt until one year later that she morphed into the curvaceous 1930s flapper.
Boop is also responsible for introducing Popeye when she pulled him up on stage to do the hula with her in a 1933 cartoon.
Despite being old enough to have the body of a grandmother, Frank Caruso, executive for King Features, which owns the rights to the character, says Bettys appearance hasnt changed much over the years.
And despite oozing sex appeal, Caruso says Boop has always been single.
But just because the gal is getting old doesnt mean shes slowing down. She still appears on slot machines at Ballys casinos, on jukeboxes and was recently sculpted into a 3-D cake for Jessica Simpsons 25th birthday party last month.
