Bill Maher Hates Being Accused Of Hating America

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Bill Maher may be a comedian but he’s crying foul these days at accusations that he’s “a member of the Hate America club.”

Maher insists he loves America but admits “there are moments when things happen in this country that are so stupid that you want to duck your head and say, ‘No, actually, I’m Swiss.’”

I’m Swiss also happens to be the title of Maher’s new HBO special and he regrets the number of “Swiss moments” that have been building since May when his HBO show, Real Time With Bill Maher, went on hiatus.

He’s bugged by Dick Durbin’s apology for comparing Guantanamo Bay to Nazi gulags and hates how “...everyone in this country backs down when they get the least little pressure.”

Maher is also angered by the media’s obsession with Natalee Holloway’s disappearance in Aruba, because, in these stories; “you never hear when Shaniqua or Shanaynay goes missing.”

But the thing that makes Maher’s blood boil most is the dumbing down of media. He says it was one thing when MTV stopped playing music videos but “now CNN has stopped showing news.”

Bill Maher: I’m Swiss debuts Saturday (Jul. 30).
