It works by using an iPod and an iTrip, a short range FM transmitter to broadcast commercials to other drivers radios.
Business consultant David Wells says he spends a lot of time driving around Illinois drawing attention to his company with a sign on his car that reads EMDCO.com B2B lead generation Podcasting Now on 87.9 FM.
Curious people who tune into the frequency hear his 45 second ad on a continual loop. Wells says his adCasts reach a radius of about seven car lengths if he turns the volume on his iPod up all the way.
Wells admits he doesnt know his market share, but he says he thinks hes on the cutting edge of an idea.
It seems to be working. The new clients who call after hearing his adCast want him to do the same for their business too.
