See Where Howard Dean Screamed – And Other Bizarre Tourist Sites

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Anyone can take a picture of the White House but some tourists would rather get a snapshot of the Kinko’s in Abilene, Texas, where some allegedly forged documents of George W. Bush’s military career were faxed to CBS.

Southern California man Chris Epting is one of those tourists whose idea of a fun vacation is visiting the places where kooky pop culture events actually happened, such as the Iowa hotel where Howard Dean made his infamous “I have a scream” speech that derailed his presidential candidacy.

Epting has also visited the restaurant in Encino, California, where Paula Abdul had her car stolen in 1995 and a Santa Monica pet store where Britney Spears bought two puppies last year.

Even more bizarre: Epting is planning a summer vacation to Preston, Idaho, so his kids can visit sites featured in Napoleon Dynamite and is considering traveling to landmarks in Georgia, Las Vegas and Albuquerque, New Mexico, visited by “Runaway Bride” Jennifer Wilbanks.

Epting is the author of a new book, Elvis Presley Passed Here: Even More Locations Of America’s Pop Culture Landmarks (Santa Monica Press).
