Everybody But Raymond Loves That Title

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Everybody loves Everybody Loves Raymond but series star Ray Romano still can’t stand the title.

The series ends its 9th and final season on May 16, but Romano admits he’s never liked the title and wishes “we could go back in time and change it.”

Romano’s real-life brother, a narcotics officer, inspired the phrase because he would sarcastically utter the phrase whenever he compared his life to Ray’s.

As Romano puts it, “He would say how people would shoot at him but ‘everybody loves Raymond,’” and co- executive producer Phil Rosenthal picked up on it and lobbied to use it as a working title.

Other titles that were considered include That Raymond Guy; Just Raymond and Romano’s personal favorite, Um, Raymond.

CBS president Les Moonves promised to change the title if the show cracked into the Top 10, but it took three years for that to happen and when it did, the prez said, “Well, you can’t change it now. It’s been three years already.”
