Star Wars: Revenge Of The Collectors Items

CAMBRIDGE, England (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Star Wars fanatics who are buying up merchandise expecting it to become a collectors item as the final Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith hits theaters may need a little help from “The Force.”

That’s because a lot of the stuff will never appreciate in value, according to super collector Jeremy Beckett, whose Star Wars collection teeters around 7,000 items. He’s also the author of The Official Price Guide to Star Wars Memorabilia (Random House).

Beckett says wise collectors pick disposable items with the Star Wars logos like hamburger wrappers and Band-Aids because these are meant to be used and in a few years they’ll be scarce.

He also says any freebie items are a good investment. They can appreciate a few dollars in a few years. However, toys that have a production flaw are a bad investment, because unlike misprinted coins, they don’t go up in value.

Finally, Beckett predicts this year’s hottest toy with be Darth Tater: A Mr. Potato Head dressed as Darth Vader.
