CHICAGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – To accurately impersonate Christopher Walken, one must walk the walk, talk the talk, and wear a gorilla suit.That worked for Chicago man Jeff Hoover, who just won the “Christopher Walken impression contest” held to promote the iconic actor’s new stage play, A Behanding In Spokane.
Walken wannabes were asked to recite a short speech from Walken’s play where he’s making an awkward phone call to his mother.
Hoover made his video submission while wearing a gorilla costume and thick glasses so he’d “stand out.” He admittedly doesn’t have “the best Walken voice,” but thinks his weird costume secured the win.
Hoover believes a solid Walken impression must have the same “creep factor” and quirkiness the actor is known for.
It’s crucial to nail Walken’s run-on speech pattern, which seems to lack punctuation marks. Sudden pauses and a few dance moves should also add authenticity.
