The dance move, where one pumps their fist in the air to music, originated in the 1960s according to guidofistpump.com.
Website creator, known only as “Guido,” says the fist pump has been invading Jersey since the days of “cheeseball rockers from the ’60s.”
However, he’s unsure who the first ever fist pumper actually was.
Guido believes fist pumping isn’t just a dance move, it’s a “lifestyle.” It exudes pure confidence, the basis of being a genuine guido.
Guido says the secret to fist pumping is “putting your aþþ into to it” and adds, “Give it all you’ve got or don’t do it at all.”
Though he’s never heard of any fist pump-related injuries, he wouldn’t be surprised if someone accidentally got punched in a crowd of pumped up pumpers at the club.
