Trekkies Explore In Wetsuits

TORRANCE, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A line of unique wetsuits is letting Trekkies dive long and prosper underwater.

Jeff Sterr, of JMJ Wetsuits, recently created Star Trek- themed diving gear resembling the iconic uniforms worn on the series.

At the request of Gene Roddenberry – who has a dive club – Sterr made high-quality wetsuits in “Command Yellow, Science Blue, and Engineering Red,” featuring the authentic Star Trek insignia.

The one-piece suits, cut to look like the snug shirt and pants worn by the space crew, may help Trekkies broaden their horizons.

Sterr says that if they’re into space exploration, Trekkies would love diving into the depths of the sea – a “whole other world” itself.

Though many Trekkies may not have bodies like Captain Kirk, the hue worn by William Shatner is the best- selling wetsuit.

The red ones may be less popular because characters who wore red uniforms on Star Trek usually died.

While the suits withstand compression, Sterr thinks they’d be too hot to really wear in outerspace.
