Traveling the world is fine and dandy, but artist Anne Koch thought shed truly experience foreign lands by filming herself eating local grub in total silence for her web series Eat.
So far, Koch has nibbled on a rice cracker in Japan in front of an ancient Buddha statue, potato chips in India while covered head-to-toe in a burka, and a lobster roll in East Hampton, New York, without making so much as a peep.
She explains, My decision to eat was to parody the tourists that gawk and look. They stand and watch everything and nothing.
Koch also wanted to do something mundane and everyday in each location juxtaposed with beautiful backdrops.
Says Koch, I wanted to stand, not move, and just have the rest of the world move.
Her odd method of sightseeing sometimes confuses locals and tourists who look into her camera confused.
