The experimental aircraft that the six-year-old boy falsely floated away in yesterday (Oct. 15) isnt the first wacky project that his dad, Richard Heene, has drummed up.
In 2006, Heene told FlashNews about his 11,000-mile journey through Americas top tornado regions in an attempt to collect data on twisters.
The storm chaser drove a motorcycle into the tornados and, once inside, shot off rockets filled with magnetometers to measure the levels of magnetism.
Another time, Heene created quickie homes out of cardboard boxes and dubbed himself the Bob Vila of Cardboard Boxes.
Heene thought it was possible to turn giant refrigerator or TV cardboard boxes into actual shelters for homeless Hurricane Katrina victims in just 30 minutes.
With a few roofing shingles, duct tape, and trash bags for insulation, Heene claimed his boxy bungalows could withstand snow, rain, and winds up to 20 MPH.
