When comedian/filmmaker Mark Malkoff realized how lax the guidelines are to earning a key to a city, he decided to collect as many keys to as many cities as possible in 28 days.
So far he’s received 32 keys, but getting them hasn’t always been easy.
While some mayors are content with having him plant a few trees for keys, others make him really work for it, like one mayor who made him shovel police horse poop and another who made him swim in the town fountain and collect coins.
He says, “I probably could’ve gotten the keys without doing anything, but I like to challenge myself.”
Malkoff has made it his goal to collect 100 keys, but once he does, he won’t be displaying the collection on his wall since one key is five feet long and another is covered in bacon grease.
