Kansas Man Builds Own Stonehenge

TOPEKA, Kan. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – There’s no need to go to the U.K. to see Stonehenge when “Truckhenge” is right in Topeka, Kansas.

When the county asked Ron Lessman to get rid of the beat up old pickup trucks and junk piled up on his property, he got artistic and decided to build a protest art piece called Truckhenge.

He says, “I figured Nebraska has Carhenge, Texas got Cadillac Row, well Kansas needed something.”

The trucks are scattered around the area with half their body in the air and are decorated with various slogans that “really pissed off” county officials, including one truck that has “If these trucks can’t stand, why do we fight the Taliban?” spraypainted on it.

Lessman admits he couldn’t bear to get rid of the trucks because they’re examples of the fine automobile craftsmanship of the ’40s and ’50s.

He also made a “little tornado” out of old hubcaps and license plates to further his artsy junk project.
