According to stress expert Dr. Redford Williams of Duke University Medical Center, a heated topic like healthcare can cause so much stress in people, they wind up with physical ailments.
Physical reactions to stress include high blood pressure and aggressive behavior, evidenced by the outbursts in town hall healthcare meetings across America that sometimes end up in blows.
In addition, Williams says stress can result in cardiovascular and mental health complications, and can make one more prone to the flu.
This is particularly dangerous in the midst of the swine flu epidemic.
To prevent an overflow in hospitals and curb healthcare- related stress, Williams suggests going for a run, taking deep breaths, meditating, or writing to local Congressmen.
Thoroughly evaluating Obamas plan and knowing all the facts could help one avoid a stress meltdown altogether.
