Vince Hanneman has built himself a holy land on his property in Austin, Texas, with his Cathedral of Junk, an expansive area piled high with beat up bicycles, busted televisions, and other useless goods hes found or had donated to him, which hes molded into a church-like structure.
Hanneman says his crappy cathedral visitors or his flock get a sense of peace and hope while amongst the trash, which is like a religious experience.
He explains, You re-connect with your inner child. Thats a sacred activity. Im pretty sure thats what Jesus told us to do. Im paraphrasing, of course.
Building the sacred dump was holy for Hanneman, who feels as though its his purpose in life to be the pope of the land.
He loves to welcome his congregation of tourists from around the world and plans to continue building up the cathedral.
