Medieval Cloaks Making Fashion Comeback?

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The drab cloaks worn by folks in the Middle Ages could be the next big fashion comeback.

That’s the hope of actor Anthony Head, who plays a king in NBC’s upcoming series Merlin, premiering June 21.

Head has been wearing medieval cloaks, gloves, and swords on the set and says belted cloaks should be a new vintage style trend.

He argues that wearing a “long, voluminous cloak” makes one walk taller and with more confidence, plus the fabric “billowing behind looks really cool.”

He’s heard fashion savvy women call cloaks “sexy” and says that if the threads ever become trendy again, he’s prepared thanks to his onscreen wardrobe.

Fans of the show may be the ones to bring cloaks back.

Head anticipates that if there are ever any Merlin conventions, devoted viewers will come in full medieval costume, including cloaks.

He’d rather the cloak make a comeback over steel armor, which, in his words, is “bizarrely restricting.”
