Air Guitarists Prepare For Pain

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – It takes awesome licks, crazy moves, and a high tolerance for pain to dominate on the air guitar stage.

Starting May 27, the U.S. Air Guitar Championships regional competitions will kick off in cities across America to find the local air shredders who will go on to represent the United States in the world event this August.

Co-founder Kriston Rucker says wowing the crowd and the judges is tough, so competitors need to bring their A game and do plenty of stretching before rocking the stage.

He explains, “You have to come thinking someone might show up and be brilliant. People will be throwing their air guitars in the air, busting them after. You definitely have to stretch before too. I’ve seen people get whiplash from headbanging.”

Though crazy stage antics impress the audience, Rucker warns newbies not to get too excited and attempt a stage dive.

He says, “I’ve seen people try that, and it’s like the red sea. The crowd parts and they bounce on the floor.”
