Wild Taxidermy Auction Hopes To Make A Killing

FORT WORTH, Texas (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A “beary” wild auction in Fort Worth, Texas, will make bidders feel at one with nature.

Tomorrow (Apr. 17) and Saturday (Apr. 18), the World Class Big Game Trophy & Western Auction is going down, where more than 800 taxidermy mounts will be up for grabs.

Stuffed animals on the auction block include a rare, full-body hippopotamus whose hide alone weighs half a ton, a pair of six- foot elephant tusks, a full standing polar bear, a beaver, and a rare black rhino mount valued at $15,000 to $30,000.

According to auction organizer John Brommel, taxidermy mounts are perfect decor for the home, office, bar, restaurant, or even a kid’s room.

He says nothing starts up a conversation like a stuffed bear in a living room and believes taxidermy is a beautiful form of art.

Brommel says taxidermy buffs typically go for the “prettier stuff” at auctions like bears and deer, but some charge straight for the rhinos, because according to “Oriental belief,” they’re an aphrodisiac.
