‘Earl’ Star Can’t Cut It As A Beauty Queen

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – My Name Is Earl star Nadine Velazquez is too much of a clown to win a crown.

The actress is co-hosting the 2009 Miss USA Pageant this Sunday (Apr. 19) on NBC, and admits she’s too much of a goofball to ever win a beauty contest herself.

In fact, when she was a teenager, Velazquez entered a local Latina pageant and knew right off the bat that the crown wasn’t hers.

She says, “I was too much of a clown. When I get nervous, I crack up. Plus, smiling that much really hurt my cheeks.”

However, the beauty contest wasn’t entirely a lost cause and Velazquez walked away with the title of “Best Dressed.”

Since then, she’s opted to watch pageants on TV with her family instead of competing in them, and looks forward to two things while doing so: The evening gown competition and watching her shy dad “gawk” at the ladies.
