Actor Tries To Make Up For Serial Killer Past

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actor Jeremy Renner’s ties with serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer haunt him every day.

Renner, who stars on the ABC cop drama The Unusuals, played the mass murderer in the 2002 biopic Dahmer, and has had a hard time living down the role.

He says, “I’ve been making up for Dahmer by trying to be good guys and save people [in movies and TV]. It’s nice to be playing a good guy [on The Unusuals].”

Renner loves playing a good cop on the show because he had police aspirations back in his younger days.

He says, “I actually wanted to be a detective when I was in college. I was a criminology major and then I stumbled upon acting. I always dreamed of being a detective, not on TV.”

Though he’s been living up the pseudo-cop experience, Renner deadpans that seeing crime scene photos of dead bodies for research was “enjoyable.”

The Unusuals premieres tonight (Apr. 8) on ABC.
