‘Scrabble’ Keeps Tony Hawk’s Marriage S-T-R-O-N-G

HOLLYWOOD (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The secret to a long-lasting marriage is easy to spell out: It’s all about Scrabble!

Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk credits the word game for saving his current marriage to Lhotse Merriam more than once.

He says, “My wife and I are really into Scrabble. We’re on par, actually. I tend to get the triple letter, triple word boxes a little more than she does because I always look ahead and see what I can do and get it on deck.”

Although the game brings them closer together, Hawk admits tensions were high during a recent round when he secured a win by laying down the word “W-I-Z.”

He explains, “The ‘w’ and ‘z’ are really high scorers and I got it on a triple letter, so I was like, ‘Boom! There, I’m done! 50 points, right there!’ It was all over.”
