Rue McClanahan Yearns To Play A Murderess

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Former Golden Girls actress Rue McClanahan wants to take a stab at playing a murderess.

McClanahan – who played oversexed Blanche Devereaux on The Golden Girls – guest stars on an episode of Law & Order tomorrow (Feb. 4) as a character tangled up in a murder scandal.

Working on the gritty legal drama has McClanahan yearning for a chance to portray a different character than her devoted fans are used to.

She wants to play a “bag lady or murderess” to prove that she can do much more than “just play the coquette.”

Says McClanahan: “I’ve played witches before, but I want to be a murderess next. That, or a woman with sleuthing skills.”

Although she vies for more dramatic roles, McClanahan will always have a soft spot for sitcoms.

However, it’s going to take a doozie to top The Golden Girls.

She explains, “I don’t expect another comedy as good as The Golden Girls to come along while I’m treading this Earth.”

Law & Order airs Wednesdays on NBC.
