President Obama A Threat To Black History Month

DURHAM, N.C. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – President Obama’s blackness is a threat to Black History Month.

So says “Hip-Hop Minista” Paul Scott, who discusses “hardcore news and views with a gangsta attitude” on his website

Scott believes that the election of America’s first African-American president puts February’s Black History Month celebrations in danger of cancellation, since many pundits and citizens believe blacks have now finished overcoming racial obstacles.

For this reason, Scott is calling for a “Black History Bailout” to protect the holiday.

He says, “Because people keep saying that black is the new white, they think, ‘Why is Black History Month needed now?’ But we need it now more than ever because people think we don’t need it. Having a black president is a good thing, but it doesn’t erase 400 years of oppression.”

The hip-hop youth culture would especially benefit from keeping Black History alive, since, as Scott puts it, “They see wearing baggy pants as representing black culture, and it’s not.”
