Super Bowl Cliches Go The Whole Nine Yards

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – This Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 1), expect sports cliches to go the extra mile.

Psychologist Dr. Don Powell – known as “Dr. Cliche” – says the Pittsburgh Steelers/Arizona Cardinals match-up will not only be a battle of the brawn, but a battle of the sports cliches.

Dr. Powell predicts viewers will hear at least 100 cliches from sports announcers, coaches, and players during the big game, including “We came here to win!” and “The game will be won in the trenches.”

Super Bowl XLIII will also be chock full of what Dr. Powell calls “trashes,” or trash-talking cliches.

Football fans can expect head coaches Mike Tomlin, of the Steelers, and Arizona’s Ken Whisenhunt to guarantee victory for their teams or insult their opposition’s players by saying, “Their best receiver wouldn’t even make our team.”

However, Dr. Powell warns coaches and players to watch their tongues because a few choice words can spark a fire in opponents that will show on the playing field.
