Fitness buff Ron S. Doyle has just begun something called Twittercize.
Folks who sign up at twitter.com/twittercize will get a message sent to their phones or computers each hour with a one- minute exercise routine that should be done on the spot, such as squats, stretches, or knee bends.
Doyle came up with the idea a few days ago when he heard that short intense workouts throughout the day are just as effective as one big routine.
The Twittercize tweets are sent out hourly between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. EST. During the drivetime hours Doyle picks exercises that can be easily done by commuters.
So far, Doyle says 53 people are Twittercizing, but he has dreams of walking down the street, hearing hundreds of phones chime, and seeing their owners suddenly start doing jumping jacks.
