Cop-Turned-Actor Has Seen His Share Of Crazies

HOLLYWOOD (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Being a serial killer’s sidekick on TV might sound crazy, but Dexter star David Zayas has met bigger crazies in real life.

Zayas – who plays Michael C. Hall’s partner on the hit show – was a real life New York City cop for 15 years before becoming an actor and admits he’s seen more than his share of nutjobs.

He says one of his crazier assignments was to “babysit” a guy who had tried to commit suicide eight different ways in one night.

Zayas explains, “He failed each time! Eight different ways and he failed all eight ways! How does that happen?”

The guy tried to shoot himself in the head, but even THAT didn’t work because the gun was jammed.

Zayas says, “If that’s not a sign that you’re supposed to live, I don’t know what is!”

A new season of Dexter premieres this Sunday (Sep. 28) on Showtime.
