‘The Dark Knight’ Could Cause ‘Dark Friday’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The release of The Dark Knight could create a new day on our calendars: “Dark Friday.”

The highly-anticipated film hits theaters July 18, but according to Fandango.com – the nation’s leading movie ticketing destination – tons of die-hard fans are planning to hit up screenings on midnight the night of July 17, and at 3 AM and 6 AM on July 18.

Fandango spokesman Harry Medved speculates that this may lead to tired, sleepy fans at work, causing “Dark Friday” to occur.

He jokes, “People are going to need some java to go with their Batman that day!”

But truly devoted fans may not even show up to work at all on “Dark Friday.”

A recent Fandango poll shows that 38 percent of movie buffs intend to take off a few hours or the entire day from work on July 18 as a result of seeing the movie really late the night before or really early that morning.
