According to Mensa spokesperson Lauren Fernandez, the brainy community counts hugging as one of their favorite bonding activities.
She explains, Hugging is a very important part of Mensa culture. We even have a color-coded hugging code, where you wear stickers that tell other members if you do or dont want a hug, or if youd prefer to be asked first.
The brainiacs are embracing their hugging ways by attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the most hugs given in an hour at the annual Mensa Gathering, happening this Wednesday (Jul. 2) through Sunday (Jul. 6) in Denver.
The cuddly geniuses will line up while a designated hugger attempts to give out more than 900 hugs in one hour to break the record, which stands at 765 hugs and belongs to a college student in Utah.
Fernandez says, Hugging is something we like to do, so we think breaking the record will be a lot of fun.
