Texas Oil Man Has Hollywood Roots

MIDLAND, Texas (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One Texas oil man won’t be trading in his hard hat for Hollywood, despite his brotherly showbiz connection.

Rooster McConaughey – brother of actor Matthew McConaughey – is starring in the reality show Black Gold, which documents the lives of Texas oil drillers.

Despite his newfound foray into showbiz, McConaughey isn’t ready to take off for Tinseltown.

He says, “I’m doing too good at what I do. I don’t mind reality TV because I don’t have to remember lines and I can just be myself. They won’t pay me what they pay those other guys to play someone else. I’m not good looking enough.”

But there’s still a chance another McConaughey will hit Hollywood in the future, since Rooster’s son, who he named Miller Lyte after his favorite beer, has something that sets him apart from others.

McConaughey says, “I’m gonna wait for him to make his own mind up, but having a handle like that will help him. People will remember him with a name like that.”

Black Gold premieres this Wednesday (Jun. 18) on truTV.
