Billy Ray Cyrus Goes Back To His Roots

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Billy Ray Cyrus is going back to his roots and recalling his achy, breaky heart before he made it big in the music biz.

He’s hosting Nashville Star, a long-running reality competition to find America’s most talented country crooner.

Cyrus hopes he can offer guidance to the up-and-coming country wannabes based on his own experiences “knockin’ down doors,” in Nashville, Tennessee, when he was first starting out.

He says, “I’ve been exactly where they are. I’ve been to the fair and I’ve seen the bear. I’ve walked all over Nashville trying to get my music heard. It’s tough, but you’ve got to keep goin’.”

Although he’ll try his best to mentor the contestants, he isn’t setting the bar too high.

Says Cyrus: “The one thing I know is that I don’t know nothin’!”

Cyrus’ heart belongs to country music because it’s part of who he is – and he’s not the only one.

He says his pop princess daughter, Miley Cyrus, can’t deny her roots and is country “whether she likes it or not!”

The sixth season of Nashville Star premieres Monday (Jun. 9) on NBC.
