‘Idol’ Winner David Cook Learns To ‘Feel’ From Frank Sinatra

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – American Idol winner David Cook has learned a valuable lesson in music appreciation from Ol’ Blue Eyes.

Cook was crowned the American Idol last Wednesday (May 21) after triumphing over Idol favorite David Archuleta, and attributes his “feelings and connection” to music to Rat Pack king Frank Sinatra.

Over the last few weeks, Cook has been tearing up on stage during his Idol performances after crooning the lyrics to songs like “Always Be My Baby” by Mariah Carey, and his winning Idol single “Time Of My Life.”

He’s been “feeling the vibe” of music and lyrics more thanks to an article that was posted backstage at Idol about Frank Sinatra’s habit of reading and truly understanding lyrics before attempting to sing a song.

Cook explains, “It’s about connecting with the words and feeling them. Then you can sing like you mean it and really match the vibe of the lyrics to the music. You have to find out what the song is all about first.”

Cook hopes to keep feeling the music with his upcoming debut album, which, as he puts it, “Will be a solid rock record that’ll make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.”
