Anthony Anderson Gets Dramatic

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Funnyman Anthony Anderson loves drama.

Anderson – best known for Kangaroo Jack and Scary Movie 4 – is honing his dramatic acting skills by joining the cast of Law & Order.

For Anderson, switching from comedic to dramatic acting is a breeze, and he’s been working on the transition by taking on serious projects like Hustle & Flow, The Departed, and Law & Order.

He says, “I’m taking a step back [from comedy] before I’m typecast. I can do more than just be funny.”

Anderson cites actors like Richard Pryor, Robin Williams, Jaime Foxx, and Will Smith as proof that actors can excel in both comedy and drama, and hopes to follow their footsteps.

Law & Order creator Dick Wolf is confident that Anderson will deliver in the iconic legal drama, and was inspired to take a risk on the actor after watching his earnest performance in The Departed.

Anderson jokes, “What? Kangaroo Jack and Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle didn’t do it for him?”

New episodes of Law & Order starring Anderson begin Wednesday (Apr. 23) on NBC.
