‘ER’ Actress And Producer Become Medical Know-It-Alls

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – ER actress Maura Tierney and executive producer John Wells think they know it all when it comes to the doctor’s office.

Tierney – who’s played troubled Dr. Abby Lockhart for nine years on the long-running hospital drama – admits she’s become a medical know-it-all since working on ER, and just can’t keep her mouth shut when she goes to her own doctor’s appointments.

Says Tierney: “I think that I know more than I actually do in front of my doctor. Sometimes I pick up medical terms from ER, but I don’t really know what they mean!”

Wells agrees, and says that being an ER know-it-all has its downside.

He explains, “I will try, in my pretentious way, to sound like I know more than I do at the doctor’s. I walk away sounding good, but in the end, I have no idea what the hell my medical condition actually is!”

Tierney and Wells also agree that working on ER has made them much more paranoid about their own health.

ER returns to NBC tomorrow (Apr. 10).
